Jared Goff (LA Rams – 26/33, 465 yards, 5 TD)
Goff tore the Vikings supposedly spectacular defence apart. He had four touchdowns at the half and could’ve posted even more offence but the Rams kicked away from Minnesota in the second half. Right now, the Rams offence looks unstoppable and many are handing much of that credit to Coach Sean McVay but make no mistake, Goff is the real deal.
JJ Watt & Jadaveon Clowney (Houston – Fumble recovery TD, 4 sacks, 6 TFL)
When JJ Watt was terrorising quarterbacks and winning three defensive MVPs, Clowney was mostly injured. Well, now Jadaveon is healthy and he is making mind-blowing plays most weeks. The Texans defence needs to improve overall but between #90 and #99 they scored a TD, dropped Andrew Luck four times chalked up six tackles for loss.
Ezekiel Elliott (Dallas – 25 rush, 152 yards, 4 receptions, 88 yards, 1 TD)
Elliott promised he was going to return to his game-breaking best and he delivered big time. Zeke rumbled past Lions defenders at will but that’s hardly surprising because whenever Dallas can give No. 21 more carries than his jersey number then good things happen. The sweet part was Elliot’s aerial expertise. He ended with 88 yards, including a score but it was his over-the-shoulder doozy that wowed the crowd but more importantly, helped secure a desperately needed Cowboy victory.
Mitch Trubisky (Chicago – 19/26, 354 yards, 6 TD, 3 rush, 53 yards)
Hands up who thought Trubisky throw nearly as many scores as incompletions… Nope, me neither but that’s exactly what the former No. 2 overall pick did against Tampa. He scorched their secondary early and often and just for good measure, added 53 yards on the ground. The makings of a nice football team are building in Chicago.
Alvin Kamara (New Orleans – 19 rush, 134 yards, 3 TD, 5 receptions, 47 yards)
This guy is just nasty! Mark Ingram returns this week but he must not be anything more than a spell for Kamara. The all-purpose superstar dropped in for a hat trick of visits to the end zone at MetLife Stadium and torched the Giants. Kamara is certain to rack up yards and likely score six, it’s just a matter of whether it’s through the air or on the ground.
